LIFT Trainers

Provide digital inclusion in your community

Train your organization’s staff and volunteers how to teach digital literacy skills.

LIFT Trainers:

Our courses are designed by educators with years of experience teaching others in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings.

As part of this package, enrollees will receive access to five online, self-paced courses. In total, the LIFT Trainers package is 3-6 hours of training.

Part One: The Adult Learning Principles for Digital Inclusion equips your team to effectively teach new concepts and skills to adults with these key learning principles from the field of education.

Part Two: The Advanced Instructional Methods for Digital Inclusion takes your team’s teaching skills to the next level. Whether your team members are teaching in a one-on-one setting, in small groups, or in classrooms, this class will prepare them to communicate and instruct most effectively.

Certificates will be awarded upon completion. Both trainings are self-guided and can be completed at one’s own pace.

Note: Part One is a prerequisite to Part Two.

Part One:

You’ll learn how to:

This helps you teach others in a way that is practical, exciting, and effective.

These strategies will keep your subject matter expertise from getting in the way of clear communication.

Lessons are most effective when they focus on realistic learning objectives; knowing your client’s Zone of Proximal Development will help you achieve success.

Popular in the educational arena, this mindset keeps you realistic and enthusiastic about educational possibilities for your client and yourself.

Adults can learn as much from mistakes as from the lessons themselves.

After reviewing key concepts of adult learning principles, you will be equipped with strategies to help you teach others.

These resources pertain to adult learners, andragogical approaches, growth mindset, learner-centered teaching, and the problem of expertise.

Part Two:

You’ll learn how to:

These education strategies will help you ask questions to assess: your client’s underlying goals and motivations; their current level of knowledge; their comfort with the unfamiliar; and the specific skills they need.

Learn how to evaluate the range of knowledge levels in group settings in order to create opportunities for near-peer and lateral learning.

Lessons are most effective when they are planned and taught within a specific sequence. You will practice the strategy of scaffolding and sequencing sub-tasks within a larger learning objective in order to move learners most effectively from one concept to the next.

Identify and prepare for likely stumbling blocks for novice learners as well as common concerns, issues, and questions.

Help learners differentiate legitimate internet safety concerns from other unfounded worries.

Model your own growth mindset in conversation with your clients.

Your team also receives access to:
